FAQ
Do you pay short miles?
No, we run practical miles on all loaded and empty dispatched miles
What kind of equipment do you run?
Primarily Freightliners and Peterbilts
Do you have APU’s?
Currently, 95% of our fleet is equipped with an APU.
Do you allow inverters?
Yes. They must be installed by our shop. You must provide the fuse for the battery box and heavy-duty cables. You can purchase those items from our shop.
What size are the bunks?
Varies on assigned tractor. OTR trucks are 70” bunks and most are double bunks, Regional trucks range from 63” to 70” and most are midroofs, and Short Haul trucks range from 48” to 58”
Do I get to take the truck home with me?
Please talk to a recruiter, it varies by fleet and location
Who does the maintenance?
Majority of your maintenance will be done at our Corporate Office in Marinette, Wisconsin. On the road maintenance is through MasterFleet. We have maintenance facilities in Marinette, WI, Green Bay, WI, Neenah, WI, Indianapolis, IN, and Milton, PA
How often can I wash my tractor?
Once a month we approve you to wash your tractor. We prefer that it be done in our wash bay on site.
What type of freight do you haul?
We are primarily a dry van and refrigerated company with a small flatbed division. We haul a lot of paper and food products.
Will I have to unload?
We are currently 98% no touch freight but you must be physically able to perform some unloading if necessary.
How much drop and hook do you do?
Approximately 60% of our freight involves a drop and hook
Where do you run?
80% of the runs are east of the Mississippi River, consisting mainly of runs throughout the Midwest and East Coast.
NYC, do I have to go?
We do not force dispatch to New York City, the Boroughs, or Canada.
Do I have an assigned Dispatcher?
Yes. Your assigned dispatcher will depend on which fleet you choose.
Do you have someone available all 24 hours?
From M-F 4 a.m. till 12 a.m. there is someone here to help drivers and customers. We also have weekend coverage from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sat. and Sun.
Do I need HazMat?
No. If you do have HazMat you get paid an extra .05/mile for qualifying loads.
How long till I get health insurance?
90 days from your date of hire, and then the first of the month
How long till I am eligible for the 401K?
90 days from your date of hire, and then the first of the month
What kind of logs do you use?
We are using electronic logs. We are using the eDriver Logs system through PeopleNet.
Does JVT then supply us with reports for annual taxes so that we can claim per diem?
Yes. We can email them or print them monthly for you.
Can I set up an email through PeopleNet?
Yes, this is option provided to you. You will not be able to receive attachments.
Do you use PrePass?
No, we do not. We do provide EZ Pass for tolls.
When do I get paid?
You get paid every Friday through direct deposit, or out on your fuel card.
How do I submit my paperwork? How often?
You submit paperwork through TransFlo or Trip Pak every 48 hours and Monday by noon for any paperwork from the following week.
Where is orientation?
Orientation is held at our corporate office in Marinette, Wisconsin as well as in Milton, Pennsylvannia. Please see Orientation schedule for additional information.
Do I have to take a DOT Physical?
On your first day you will be require to take a Range of Motion, DOT Physical and drug test. You will be required to obtain at least a one year physical card.
How does your vacation work?
1 year – 1 week
2 years – 2 weeks
5 years – 3 weeks
Vacation is calculated by taking 1.5% of your last 52 weeks or your W2
Do you have Per Diem?
We do have a Per Diem program that is currently optional.
